Jens Flintrop to become new press officer at IQWiG

The Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) has reorganized its Communications division: From 1 January 2019, Jens Flintrop will become press officer and Head of the new Communications Unit. He succeeds Susanne Breuer, who was the temporary Head and who will remain one of the contact persons for the press. The former long-term Head of Department, Anna-Sabine Ernst, will dedicate herself primarily to contacts with politics and self-government of the health care system in Berlin.

A political economist, Jens Flintrop (46) worked as an editor at the “Deutsche Ärzteblatt” (the journal of the German Medical Association) in Cologne from 2001 until 2014, before he chose a different perspective and became a press officer at the Westfalen-Lippe Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Dortmund in 2015.

The Institute’s Director Jürgen Windeler emphasizes: “Jens Flintrop is a communications expert with proven expertise and many contacts in the German health care system. He will play his part in raising IQWiG’s public profile.”
