Registration now open: IQWiG Data Symposium seeks solutions for the inpatient sector

On 10 September 2026, the IQWiG symposium on data access in the inpatient sector will take place – registration for this German-language event is now open.

Anyone who would like to attend can register for the event via the IQWiG website. The title of the symposium is: ‘Access to data makes a difference: Better decisions for the inpatient sector’. The event will focus on the following questions:

  • Who needs which data on the inpatient sector – and for what purpose?
  • Who holds which data?
  • What is the legal framework governing this use of data – and why?

The topic will be examined from various angles: Esra Eren Bayindir (University of Hamburg), Ulrike Nimptsch (Technische Universität Berlin), Julian Witte (Vandage) and Sarah Mostardt (IQWiG) will speak from the perspective of data users. The views of the data holders will be represented by Jennifer Pohle (IQTiG), Christian Brachem (Health Data Lab / German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices), Stefan Kwast (Helios Health Institute), Dirk Horenkamp-Sonntag (Techniker health insurance fund) and Roland Nagel (Gesundheitsforen Leipzig). A representative from the Federal Ministry of Health will explain the legislator’s perspective.

The all-day event will provide opportunity for conversation, presentations and panel discussions – with thought-provoking insights from experts in research and health policy.

The symposium will take place at the IQWiG offices in Cologne. The event can also be viewed via live stream.
