Background: In the AMNOG procedure IQWiG assesses, on behalf of the Federal Joint Committee (), whether a newly authorised drug has a patient-relevant added benefit in comparison with the appropriate comparator therapy. This assessment is based on the dossier submitted by the pharmaceutical company to the following marketing authorisation. On the basis of this ‘dossier assessment’, the then adopts a resolution on the extent of the added benefit. The ’s resolution then forms the basis for reimbursement price negotiations between the drug manufacturer and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds.
